Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Administration Services, the Administrative/Community Programs Worker Trainee will provide administrative and program support to various departments within the agency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Main contact for Butterfly Boutique (a community-led, community-run initiative providing free resources such as clothing, food, and diapers to individuals and families in need)
  • Tracking inventory and incoming donations
  • Recording visitor stats and preparing reports
  • Helping Community Members as they access the Butterfly Boutique
  • Supporting with program planning and resource gathering
  • Promoting agency programs, special events and initiatives
  • Providing reception coverage
  • Scheduling and documentation of meetings, circles, events
  • Assisting with Dreamkeepers Team program set up and tear down
  • Assisting with the purchasing/inventory/distribution of program supplies and food items
  • Preparing kits for various programs and initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • Potential candidates must be registered or eligible to register with Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training
  • Applicants for this role must be First Nations, Inuit or Metis and reside within the Greater Toronto Area

Preferred Skills/Capabilities

  • An understanding of Indigenous teachings and ceremonies
  • Great organizational skills, ability to multitask, initiative and respect for confidentiality
  • An understanding of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Knowledge of local community resources
  • Valid Safe Food Handlers and CPR/First Aid, an asset, but not required

Work Environment

Standard office environment; minimal physical demands.
