CASUAL MARINA LABOURER
Seasonal Position September - November 2025
POSITION OVERVIEW
Working as part of a team, this position is responsible to safely place boats in the water as the boating season starts and ends.
Note: *This is a Union represented position belonging to CUPE Local 416*
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General activities and functions include, but are not limited to:
- Work in a team to provide courteous customer service at the Outer Harbour Marina.
- Using the equipment responsibly, assist the Foreperson and Sub-Foreperson in launch and haul-out activities.
- Assist the Foreperson and Sub-Foreperson in other aspects of Marina Maintenance as directed.
- Keep Foreperson, Sub-foreperson and/or Marina Management informed of progress on assigned work
- Must comply with all PortsToronto policies and procedures including Health and Safety policies, SOPs, procedures, and legislated requirements.
- Must wear designated safety equipment/PPE as required.
- Any other duties that may be assigned by PortsToronto.
ABILITIES:
- Must have safe working habits.
- Must be able to exercise good judgement in the operation of equipment.
- Must be able to work in a team with limited supervision.
- Must have good communication and customer service skills.
- Must be able to swim and tread water for 2 minutes.
- Able to lift up to 25 Kgs (50 Lbs) floor to waist.
- Must be physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather, climb and work at varying heights.
REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Previous general marina experience.
- Experience in launching, haul-out, and blocking boats, stepping and de-stepping masts.
- Able to operate and assist in routine maintenance of Marina equipment such as a Travel Lift, Hydraulic trailer, crane truck, power washing equipment and other, or have ability to learn.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License.
- Pleasure Craft Operator's Certificate is an asset.
- Forklift training and experience is an asset.
- Working at Heights certificate is an asset.
- Standard First aid CPR and AED, Level- “C” certificate or ability to acquire.
CONDITIONS:
- Criminal record check will be conducted on hire
- Annual Driver’s License validity check, as applicable.
- Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends, as the need arises
HOURS OF WORK: Scheduled for 7 1/2 hours per day, Monday to Friday, between 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
COMPENSATION: $31.23/hour
CONTRACT DATES: September 2 – November 28, 2025
LOCATION: Outer Harbour Marina - 475 Unwin Avenue, Toronto.
Must have own transportation. There is no access by public transportation to this location.
