COORDINATOR, FINANCIAL SERVICES

We are the largest private supporter of high performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.  
 

The Coordinator, Financial Services supports finance function excellence by enhancing the finance team through accuracy and diligence. This position is based in Toronto and reports to the Manager, Finance and Accounting. Processing largely transactional data requires an attention to detail and a pride in one’s work, work which impacts the results and analytics of the organization and therefore strategic decisions made when relying on financial information. 

LOCATION

This position will be located in the COC office in Toronto, ON, at 250 Yonge Street. The COC offers a hybrid work model that allows for up to two (2) remote days per week.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES 

Input accurate, complete, and timely financial information for all payable invoices. 

Accounts Payable:

  • Manage the AP inbox and process invoices for payment in the Accounts Payable system.
  • Process weekly and emergency EFT, wires and cheques as required.
  • Maintain electronic A/P filing system.
  • Match receiving documents and invoices and manage discrepancies.
  • Obtain and verify approval authorizations according to schedule and responsible budget owner.
  • Review GST & HST treatment of invoices for compliance.

General Accounting:

  • Assist in preparing adjusting journal entries. 
  • Adhere to month-end close deadlines and participate in month-end discussions.
  • Prepare and maintain assigned balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Assist in monthly and annual reporting close for accruals.
  • Support adhoc requests/projects as and when required.

Banking:

  • Record and deposit cash receipts

Tax Remittances:

  • Remain educated on GST/HST compliance regulation.
  • Calculate GST/HST & QST rebates and file the monthly returns with CRA and Revenu Quebec respectively.


QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education (university or college), Accounting preferred 
  • 1-year experience in administration and/or accounting (preferred)

Skills and Abilities

  • Solution-driven with a constant desire to make things more effective and efficient.
  • Service-oriented, approachable and professional with all levels of staff and external stakeholders
  • Basic Excel skill-level
  • Knowledge and application of HST, GST and place of supply rules
  • Able to manage competing deadlines and highly organized
  • Demonstrates and embodies the COC values of Accountability, Excellence, Fun, Respect and Bravery

COMPENSATION

The expected salary range for this role is $48,000 to $65,000 per year. The base pay within this range is based on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal pay equity, and market benchmarks.
