 Research Pharmacy Coordinator

 

Role:

The Research Pharmacy Coordinator oversees all aspects of research pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and supporting clinical trial management at St. Michael’s and St. Joseph’s sites.

The Research Pharmacy Coordinator works in consultation with the Pharmacy Manager, the Drug Information Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, and other pharmacists, and also works independently, performing controlled acts delegated by the Pharmacy Manager.

Position Summary

 

The Research Pharmacy Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting clinical trials at Unity Health Toronto. Reporting to the Pharmacy Site Manager at St Michael’s Hospital. This position oversees all aspects of research pharmacy operations, including:

Clinical Trial Management: Overseeing clinical trial protocol review, trial operationalization, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines, and managing drug inventory.

 

Dispensing: Ensuring accurate and efficient dispensing of investigational medications and special access medications.

 

Training & Supervision: Training and supervising research pharmacy staff.

 

 Qualifications

 

  • 5 years of experience as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience working in an inpatient hospital pharmacy setting and aseptic technique skills are strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in clinical trial management, including knowledge of GCP and regulatory requirements
  • Strong communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills to consolidate all resources of medication information and the ability to work independently and effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications (Kroll and EPIC) an asset
  • Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and to manage completing duties/priorities.
  • Strong computer skills required, including experience with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
