The “Eshkiniigjik Naandwechigegamig - A Place for Healing Our Youth" – “Aabiish Gaa Binjibaaying – Where Did We Come From?” is an Indigenous Youth Agency dedicated to providing programming and services to support Indigenous youth in North America. Our mission is to help them become responsible, participating citizens while leading their Indigenous communities.

Key Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Toronto Cultural Program Manager will be responsible for implementing the following program activities: 

  • Seek and apply for funding to continue and enhance our culture/language programming.
  • Supervise the cultural team and program support.
  • Ensure effective programming and ceremonies as per strategic plan provided by the youth.
  • Form, meet and document meetings of the Metigwaake Kinomaage Maawnjidig (Bush Teaching Space) Advisory Council and with the City of Toronto.
  • Create the needed policies and procedures for the Board and Youth Council to review and approve when needed.
  • Promoting the programming through Outreach, Emails, Facebook, Instagram, etc. 
  • Outreach within the Toronto Indigenous Community to build capacity and relationships. 
  • Registering youth that are not already registered to ENAGB
  • Working with Elders, Traditional Knowledge Keepers to implement cultural teaching and ensure protocol is being met
  • Supporting youth that have diverse backgrounds and need to learn more of their specific culture (Metis, Cree, Mohawk, Odawa, Ojibwe, Inuit, Secena etc.)
  • Input all programming hosted in our database system to track participation and support.
  • Ensuring a team approach.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the ENAGB Youth Program.
  • Other related duties as it relates to this position.

Qualifications

  • Management Experience of at least 1 year.
  • Cultural programming experience of over 2 years. 
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the Indigenous community (Inuit, Metis or First Nation).
  • Actively participated in Ceremony and is well versed in cultural protocol.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Microsoft word, powerpoint and excel.  
  • Fluent in an indigenous language is an asset.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends.
  • Adequate energy and ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
  • A valid Standard First Aid and CPR.
  • A cleared Criminal Reference check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • A positive and fun-loving attitude.
  • The ability to work as a team and be self-motivated.

Employment Details

Salary: $40/per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours/week
