Custodian Trainee (Part-time)

Nishnawbe Homes Inc. owns and operates properties in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) for over 35 years. Nishnawbe Homes Inc. offers affordable housing that connects them to the community and reflects Indigenous culture and values. Nishnawbe Homes Inc. is a non-profit organization that promotes a safe, affordable and cooperative lifestyle for the Indigenous community. The successful applicant must be registered with Miziwe Biik Employment and Training.

Essential Functions Training on the following:

• Cleaning all common areas of the 4 story building, including laundry rooms, stairwells and facilities
• Proper sanitizing all high tough areas and surfaces to fight the spread of Covid 19
• Collecting and disposing of garbage and recycling materials;
• Safely handle heavy loads as required;
• Perform minor maintenance tasks
• Work as a team member within all of Nishnawbe Homes administration;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

• Demonstrates sound judgment regarding confidential & sensitive matters;
• Must be able to organize and prioritize workload effectively;
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Knowledge of working with the Indigenous community;
• WHMIS/First Aid Certification an asset.
