About the Centre

The Centre for Indigenous Innovation and Technology (CIIT) was established to advance Indigenous participation and leadership within Canada's technology and innovation sectors. CIIT promotes inclusive pathways in tech through culturally grounded programming, education, and partnerships. Our mission is to increase Indigenous representation, foster digital skills, and strengthen innovation through Indigenous worldviews.

Our Story: The Centre for Indigenous Technology and Innovation (CIIT) is dedicated to empowering the next generation of Indigenous leaders in Canada's technology and innovation sector.  At our core, we believe that Indigenous peoples should have an active role in shaping the future of technology and innovation. By bringing together Indigenous communities, industry partners, educational institutions, and other stakeholders, we aim to create a sustainable and inclusive digital society that celebrates Indigenous peoples' diversity and unique perspectives.

Vision: To foster a network of collaboration between Private, Public, Academic and Non-Profit Institutions to solve problems pairing technical and social innovation within the Indigenous community.

Mission: CIIT was created in response to the underrepresentation of Indigenous peoples in the technology and innovation sectors in Canada. Our Mission is to provide programming that provides excellence in technology training, increases Indigenous representation in the tech industry in Canada, and promotes problem-solving using technology with an Indigenous lens.
