in the heart of downtown Toronto. The NCCT offers a wide range of Indigenous programs and
services based on Indigenous cultural traditions and teachings.

Job Title: EarlyON Indigenous Mobile Childhood Educator/Assistant
Employment Term: Mobile Full-Time, 40 hours per week Mon-Fri
Department: EarlyOn Program

Program Overview
The Indigenous EarlyON Mobile Program provides culturally grounded, inclusive early learning
and family support services for children aged 3 months to 6 years and their caregivers.
Programming is delivered across multiple community locations and reflects Indigenous ways of
knowing, being, and doing.
Job Summary
The EarlyON Indigenous Mobile ECE/ECA is responsible for delivering high-quality, play-based
early learning experiences that support the physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual
development of young children. This role primarily serves Toronto West and requires the ability
to travel to multiple sites daily. The successful candidate will integrate Indigenous knowledge,
culture, and language into programming, foster positive relationships with children and families,
and collaborate with service partners to support holistic child development.

Key Responsibilities
Program Planning & Child Development
• Meet regularly (weekly or monthly) with service partners to collaboratively develop and
review teaching and program plans
• Plan and/or implement developmentally appropriate, play-based programming tailored to
individual children’s interests, abilities, talents, and special needs
• Guide and support children and families in meeting children’s physical, cognitive, social,
and emotional development needs
• Assist with program planning and implementation to promote stimulation and optimal
child development
• Establish consistent routines and age-appropriate rules that support a secure and
predictable environment
Engagement & Learning Experiences
• Engage children through storytelling, teaching songs, preparing crafts, and facilitating
creative experiences
• Provide opportunities for self-expression through art, dramatic play, music, and physical
activity
• Foster curiosity, creativity, and positive learning experiences in a culturally affirming
environment
Observation, Documentation & Reporting
• Observe children for signs of developmental, learning, or behavioral concerns
• Document observations and prepare reports for parents, guardians, supervisors, or
service partners when required
• Complete daily journals and maintain accurate written records in accordance with
program and EarlyON requirements
Indigenous Culture & Community Engagement
• Integrate Indigenous knowledge, cultural teachings, and community values into daily
programming
• Support culturally safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces for Indigenous children and
families
• Indigenous language skills are an asset
• Build positive, secure, and respectful relationships with children, families, and
community partners

Mobile Program Delivery
• Travel between multiple EarlyON sites daily within Toronto West
• Set up, maintain, and take down mobile learning environments
• Ensure learning spaces are organized, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate
• Transport and manage program materials and resources safely
Health, Safety & Environment
• Provide a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment inclusive of all children
• Monitor playrooms and program spaces, addressing health and safety concerns
promptly
• Follow organizational, EarlyON, and public health policies and procedures
Administrative & Additional Duties
• Support housekeeping responsibilities as required
• Perform other duties as assigned, including general office support and assistance
• Stay current with research, best practices, and new developments in the field of Early
Childhood Education
Qualifications
• Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), or currently working towards
completion
• Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) certificate or equivalent experience
• Experience working with infants, toddlers, and young children
• Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, and community values
• Current Infant/Child First Aid & CPR
• Vulnerable Sector Check
• Ability to travel between multiple sites daily (reliable transportation required. (Presto
Card provided)
• Experience planning and implementing play-based, child-centered programming
• Knowledge of Ontario EarlyON Child and Family Centre principles
Skills & Competencies
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills
• Cultural humility and commitment to Indigenous ways of knowing
• Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work independently in a mobile setting
• Strong organizational and time-management skills

Working Conditions
• Mobile position serving GTA
• Travel between multiple sites daily
• Regular interaction with infants, toddlers, young children, and their caregivers
• Indoor and outdoor programming
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting and engaging in floor-based activities
• Flexible hours based on program needs
• May require occasional evening or weekend depending on program needs
• Able to lift/carry minimum 10lbs

The successful candidate is expected to contribute positively to the implementation of
the NCCT’s vision and mission, operate in a collaborative team setting and maintain
high and professional productivity levels and quality of service. This is a full-time
position, salary to commensurate with qualifications and experience. Although
