
Inanna Publications, housed at York University, is a non-profit, independent feminist press committed to publishing fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction by and about women. Our books bring new, innovative and diverse perspectives which can change and enhance the lives of women everywhere. We also publish the Canadian Woman Studies Journal/les cahiers de la femme, Canada's oldest feminist academic journal. Our aim is to preserve a publishing space dedicated to feminist voices that provoke discussion, advance feminist thought, and speak to the diverse lives of women.
We are looking for a detail-oriented team player who has a demonstrated passion for books by and about women. Duties are related to all aspects of our publishing program for Inanna Publications and Education Inc.
The Editorial & Production Assistant/Office Administrator supports the Managing Editor by providing administrative, editorial, production and project management support. This job is a two-part one, having an office administrator component and an editorial assistant component. How the employee's time is divided between these components is flexible, depending upon priorities of the publishing schedule at any given time, and will be determined in consultation with the Managing Editor. You will receive training in all aspects of publishing, including contracts, manuscript evaluation, production coordination, sales, marketing and publicity, circulation management, working with an editorial board as well as a Board of Directors. Administrative training will include accounts receivable, financial tracking, maintaining databases, and office procedures.

This is a full-time position. It will require in-person work at our office at York University. Candidates for this job must live in the Greater Toronto Area as defined in the Miziwe Biik catchment guidelines. Some lifting of heavy boxes (13kg) will be required.
This position is funded through the Miziwe Biike program. Potential candidates must First Nations, Inuit or Metis and reside within the GTA. Candidates must be registered or eligible to register with Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training.
Hours and pay: 35 hours per week at $20 per hour
