Headquartered in Toronto, the Building Ontario Fund (BOF) is a new independent, board-governed agency that will facilitate investment by trusted institutional investors in critically needed large-scale infrastructure projects within the province.

The agency’s mandate is to invest in, and seek to attract investment from, qualified institutional investors, public sector entities, governments, and Indigenous communities in Ontario infrastructure projects that will generate revenue and are in the public’s interest. BOF will do this by:

  • Investing in infrastructure and appropriately allocating risks amongst the Corporation and other investors
  • Structuring proposals and negotiating agreements with investors in infrastructure projects
  • Receiving and assessing unsolicited ideas and proposals for infrastructure
  • Providing advisory services with respect to financing infrastructure projects

The Building Ontario Fund is seeking a recent post-secondary graduate to join their team as an Indigenous Opportunities Financing Program (IOFP) Intern. This internship is part of BOF’s broader initiative to develop Ontario’s future talent pipeline by offering meaningful, hands-on work experience within a dynamic public agency environment.

The IOFP Intern will gain exposure to a range of functions and will:

  • Conduct research on investment managers, industry trends, asset classes, and capital markets to support decision-making
  • Assist in evaluating manager performance, operational processes, and compliance with investment policies
  • Support analysis of investment strategies across sectors such as Long-Term Care, Infrastructure, and Energy
  • Help prepare board and committee materials, including performance reports and strategic recommendations
  • Contribute to due diligence efforts, including manager interviews, documentation review, and investment transitions
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to support portfolio construction and asset allocation reviews
  • Track and analyze fund costs, manager fees, and performance benchmarks
  • Summarize findings from sectoral and geographic investment exposure reviews
  • Develop and maintain tools, models, and presentations used in investment monitoring and reporting
  • Participate in internal meetings and cross-functional collaboration to support ongoing initiatives

Education and Experience

Recent graduates with a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business or related discipline.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Basic understanding of financial concepts, asset classes, and capital markets.
  • Familiarity with investment and pension plans.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with ability to interpret data and summarize key findings.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with investments and
  • Interest in or progress toward CFA, CAIA, or a similar designation is considered an asset
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and peoples, and/or lived experience as a member of an Indigenous community, is considered an asset.
