The Work  Equitable Bank is driven by its mission to maintain its status as Canada’s Challenger Bank™ and is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. We recognize the importance of understanding the systemic barriers that Indigenous peoples face when accessing and working in Financial Services. We are offering these Indigenous Internship opportunities to support research on these barriers and provide recommendations for how Equitable Bank can better serve Indigenous communities. The internship will provide the successful candidates with the opportunity to conduct meaningful research and gain valuable industry experience. The intern will work within a designated business group, supporting research initiatives and having other responsibilities aligned with the team’s goals. This role is located in Toronto (possibility of fully remote).

The Core Responsibilities!

  • Work across the various teams within Mortgage Services on a rotational basis department to understand key responsibilities of each unit.
  • Understand and follow policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Work within established guidelines to prioritize workload and liaise with various internal teams.
  • Conduct research on systemic barriers to mortgages for Indigenous peoples.
  • Draw on lived experiences to bring awareness to issues impacting Indigenous communities.
  • Work collectively with peer Indigenous Interns.
  • Develop and deliver a final paper/report with findings and recommendations.

Duties & Responsibilities (Business Group Specific)!

  • Support business group initiatives and assist with day-to-day operations as required.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute insights relevant to the team’s objectives.
  • Support additional administrative or project-based tasks as needed.

Let's Talk About You!

  • An Indigenous student currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a college, university, or equivalent program.
  • Business and financial knowledge is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and review one’s own work.
  • Ability to source research ethically and ensure proper citation practices.
