The Marketing & Social Media Coordinator for Curious Minds Festival will work to actively promote the new Curious Minds Festival’s programming and initiatives. In coordination with the rest of the Marketing & Communications team, this position oversees the production of advertising and marketing collateral, tracks and fulfills cross-promotional agreements, and helps develop and execute the social media strategy, which all plays a crucial role in fostering community involvement and building new audiences for the Curious Minds Festival.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Marketing & Advertising
- Oversee the production and delivery of print and digital advertising assets and marketing collateral, including posters, signs and slides, in close collaboration with our designer.
- Ensure the acknowledgement of sponsors, public partners, and funders, as well as the fulfillment of promotional benefits.
- Solicit, track, and deliver on cross-promotional partnerships, co-presentations, and other joint programming activities for Curious Minds Festival.
- Manage and update outreach lists, and draft and issue communications to promote the Curious Minds Festival, in conjunction with the Manager, Marketing & Communications.
- Conduct targeted outreach to brands, influencers, filmmakers, and community leaders to amplify marketing efforts.
Social Media
- In conjunction with the Social Media Coordinator, develop and execute a tailored social media plan for the Curious Minds Festival
- Create and publish high-quality digital assets and posts tailored to the Curious Minds Festival events and various social media platforms.
- Provide on-site, live social media coverage of Curious Minds Festival, November 6 to 9, at Hot Docs Cinema.
- Monitor and engage with audiences across social media platforms, in coordination with the Social Media Coordinator.
- Follow protocols for handling negative feedback, crises, or unexpected challenges on social media platforms
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with departmental administrative and reporting activities.
- Supports Hot Docs’ commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in programming policies and practices.
- Flexible approach to workplace location and hours (including occasional evenings and weekends) contingent on the operating needs of the organization.
- Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-3 years experience in marketing, communications, content creation, social media management and digital marketing
- Exceptional communication skills with a talent for crafting engaging content
- Proven experience with graphic design, digital content creation and social media management tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Hootsuite, etc.)
- Strong grasp of social media trends, best practices and platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook and LinkedIn
- Strong proficiency in MS Office
- Basic knowledge of HTML an asset
- Superior attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work within tight deadlines
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to foster a workplace culture that promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and community leaders
