About Us

The “Eshkiniigjik Naandwechigegamig - A Place for Healing Our Youth" – “Aabiish Gaa Binjibaaying – Where Did We Come From?” is an Indigenous Youth Agency dedicated to providing programming and services to support Indigenous youth in North America. Our mission is to help them become responsible, participating citizens while leading their Indigenous communities.

Under the direct supervision of the ENAGB Youth Program Manager the Youth Program Coordinator Assistant will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide drop in programming support in the West end, evenings and possible weekends.
  • Ensuring a culturally safe, trauma-informed approach that is responsive to the diverse communities of our Indigenous youth between the ages of 12 - 29 yrs.
  • Supporting the setup of the drop in programming space.
  • Prepare calendars, posters and promote the drop in programming as recommended by the ENAGB Youth Council.
  • Ensure all youth accessing ENAGB register to the program.
  • Entry of notes into our data-based system.
  • Engage directly with the youth and provide quality care.
  • Interact with youth to encourage their involvement in activities.
  • Work with the team to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere.
  • Ensure confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Ensuring a team approach.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the ENAGB Youth Program.
  • Other related duties as it relates to this position.

Qualifications 

  • Child & Youth Worker and/or relevant experience.
  • Over two years of experience working with youth between 12-29 years.
  • Strong skills in conflict resolution, crisis response, de-escalation techniques, and supporting youth experiencing mental health challenges, addictions, or concurrent disorders.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Indigenous (Inuit, Metis or First Nation) history/background.
  • Fluent in an indigenous language and knowledge of Indigenous cultures is an asset.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends.
  • Adequate energy and ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR.
  • A cleared Criminal Reference check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • A positive, fun-loving attitude.
  • The ability to work as a team and be self-motivated.

Employment Details

  • Salary: $22/hr until June 30, 2026; $18/hr thereafter
  • Hours: 37.5 hrs
  • Position Type: Full time, Permanent
