Salary Range: $95,000 – $111,000 / year, depending on experience and qualifications.

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated Registered Nurse Practitioner (NP) specializing in Mental Health to join our multidisciplinary team and serve our community.

The Role

As our Nurse Practitioner specializing in Mental Health, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric and mental health care that honours traditional practices alongside modern medicine. You will work with an integrated team of Elders, Traditional Healers, and mainstream psychotherapists and healthcare workers both in the city and in First Nation communities to support people on their healing journeys.

Key Responsibilities

Holistic Assessment: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, blending clinical diagnostic frameworks with an understanding of historical, systemic, and cultural influences on mental wellness.

Culturally Rooted Care Plans: Co-create trauma-informed treatment plans integrating clinical evidence-based therapies and Western psychiatric medications with traditional healing ceremonies, medicines, and community resources.

Community Advocacy: Support land-based healing initiatives, support groups, and mental health prevention programs tailored to Indigenous community wellness needs.

Collaborative Partnership: Work side-by-side with Community Elders, Traditional Knowledge Keepers, and primary care providers to ensure seamless, respectful care.

What We Are Looking For

1. Licensure: Registered Nurse Practitioner in good standing with the provincial/territorial regulatory body.
2. Specialization: Valid certification or extensive dedicated experience in Psychiatric/Mental Health care.
3. Cultural Expertise: Deep, firsthand knowledge or extensive professional experience working within Indigenous communities, understanding cultural protocols, traditional values, and historical contexts (intergenerational trauma).
4. Approach: A compassionate, humility-cantered, and trauma-informed approach to healthcare delivery.
