POSITION PURPOSE

The Research Coordinator, TIM Centre, is responsible for coordinating all aspects of TIM Centre research and other special projects in conversation with the Lead Researcher and designated by the Executive Director of the TIM Centre.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning and Implementation

  • Assist in developing research protocols and study design
  • Prepare research ethics board applications and obtain necessary approvals in conversation with the Lead Researcher
  • Design, implement, and coordinate research project tasks associated with the TIM Centre and/or partner organizations.

Data Collection and Analysis

  • Assist in identifying and recruiting potential search participants in conversation with the Lead Researcher
  • Collect, organize, and analyze research data
  • Perform statistical analysis on data.
  • Verify accuracy and validity of data entered into databases, correcting any errors
  • Maintain accurate and detailed research records
  • Ensure adherence to all research ethics and regulatory guidelines in conversation with the Lead Researcher
  • Manage project timelines and budgets

Compliance and Reporting

  • Prepare research reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare tables, graphs, fact sheets, and written reports summarizing research methods and results.
  • Use social media and other communication methods to broadcast reports and information related to research projects.
  • Oversee the organization of live events pertaining to projects, as needed.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Arts in social sciences or related field

Experience

  • Previous research experience required
  • Experience in a non-profit and/or educational institution
  • Experience with database management and data analysis software
  • Experience with field research (research design, research ethics, data collection, data analysis, etc.)
  • Competency in ethnographic, focus group, survey, interview and other research methods
  • Understanding of participatory action research or community-based research approaches preferred
  • Familiarity with intercultural competency and working with diverse people groups in the GTA
  • Diverse ministry experience preferred (e.g., church, non-profit)

  • Writing — Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Strong English writing skills required.
  • Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Oral Comprehension — The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Oral Expression — The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Written Comprehension — The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Written Expression — The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • Information Ordering — The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations). Project management skills are an asset.
  • Team Work – The ability to work effectively with other people towards common objectives and deadlines.

  • Highly detail oriented and diligent
  • Very good computer proficiency (MS Office including word, excel & power point, data analysis software preferred)
  • Professional, adaptable, strong work ethic, positive and friendly
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with diplomacy, tact and professionalism

Physical and Mental Demands

  • General office environment and equipment
  • Occasional lifting of heavy items (e.g. files and boxes, etc.)
  • May encounter challenging people and vendors from time to time. Important to maintain a clam and professional demeanor
  • Must be able to work with distractions and interruptions
  • Moderate stress level due to face-paced and detailed work, tight deadlines.

Hourly Rate:

$25.00
