Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, administration, and optimization of LOFT’s hybrid IT environment — with a primary focus on the Microsoft ecosystem (M365, Azure, Intune, SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform).
The role includes managing cloud and on-prem infrastructure, identity and access management, endpoint security, disaster recovery, and system automation. The Systems Administrator ensures LOFT’s systems are secure, reliable, and continuously improving in alignment with organizational goals.
What You Will Do:
Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure
- Administer and optimize Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Power Automate, Defender, Purview).
- Manage Azure AD / Entra ID, conditional access, single sign-on, and hybrid identity synchronization.
- Implement and maintain Microsoft Intune for device management, compliance, and application deployment.
- Lead initiatives to improve data protection, governance, and DLP policies across M365 and Azure.
- Support automation through PowerShell scripting and Power Platform tools.
Infrastructure & Systems
- Manage and monitor virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V, or Azure Virtual Machines) and backup systems (Veeam or equivalent).
- Maintain hybrid infrastructure including DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Entra.
- Implement and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for cloud and on-prem systems.
Security & Monitoring
- Deploy and maintain endpoint protection, patching, and encryption (e.g., Defender for Endpoint, SentinelOne, or similar).
- Monitor infrastructure and cloud services using tools like Azure Monitor, or Sentinel.
- Investigate and remediate security alerts related to Infrastructure
- Collaborate with IT management to continuously strengthen LOFT’s cyber resilience posture as it relates to Infrastructure & end-user devices.
Support & Collaboration
- Provide Tier 2 & 3 technical support and mentorship to IT service desk staff.
- Develop technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base articles.
- Contribute to IT projects using project management best practices and coordinate with internal and vendor teams.
- Participate in after-hours maintenance or incident response as needed.
- The System Administrator will be expected to provide end-user support and coverage for the Networking and Cyber Security functions as needed.
What You Bring:
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in systems and cloud administration within a Microsoft-centric environment.
- Expertise in:
- Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Defender, Intune)
- Azure AD / Entra ID, conditional access, identity governance
- Windows Server 2016–2022 and Active Directory
- PowerShell scripting and automation
- Experience with VMware or Hyper-V, Veeam, and hybrid backup/DR solutions.
- Familiarity with ITIL or equivalent service management frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Strong documentation discipline and ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly language.
- Postsecondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, M365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, or CompTIA Server+/Network+
- Strong interpersonal skills
- The ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear and non-technical way
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to bring the necessary skills and resources to a problem
- Ability to create and maintain clear and detailed technical documentation
Work Environment:
- Standard 40-hour work week, with flexibility for occasional after-hours work during critical maintenance or incidents.
- Hybrid environment with on-site presence required at LOFT’s Toronto office and occasional travel to program sites.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a car in order to visit remote sites in the GTA and surrounding regions.
