Target Salary Range: $45,000 - $48,000 per year (Subsidized by Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training's Targeted Wage Subsidy Program & Service Canada)

This is a full-time role for an Indigenous candidate (First Nations, Inuit or Métis) who resides within the Greater Toronto Area. Candidates must be registered with Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training.

Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the VP of Development, and working closely with the Director of Development, the Donor Relations Coordinator (Trainee) will support the team in building and maintaining meaningful donor relationships while learning the basics of fundraising and donor relations for charities. The role will contribute to writing communications with donors, basic online research of potential donors, and writing briefing notes for the team and helping to track progress in our database of donors. The role also provides administration support such as processing of donations from individuals, corporations and philanthropic foundations in our fundraising database. Training will be provided.


Key Accountabilities

Writing/communications: With the support of the team, assist in writing donor letters, emails, thank-you notes, donor reports and other basic correspondence. Helps to coordinate donor recognition activities and updates.

Administration and Systems: Assists with gift processing and data entry in the fundraising database to ensure accurate recording of donations. Help to file donor records and correspondence in our department SharePoint filing system.

Potential Donor Research: Conducts online research of potential donors and using the information found online creates briefing notes for the team that summarizes relevant information. Enters this relevant information in the donor database. Training will be provided.

Skills

  • Basic experience with MS Office 365 (Word, Power Point, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Previous data entry experience is an asset but training will be provided

Qualifications (minimums)

  • A post-secondary diploma or certificate; or equivalent work or community experience
  • One year of previous work experience in a non-profit or for-profit organization
  • Experience with customer service, and/or administrative tasks
  • A passion for education and the possibilities of math education to change lives
  • Able to work remotely
