Overall Function:
The role of General Labour is responsible for performing elemental tasks in the production process, including material handling, assembly, packaging, unpacking, counting, weighing, sorting, and cleaning.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with the loading and unloading of raw materials, tools, and finished parts. Transport materials between departments or workstations as needed using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual labor.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by sweeping floors, cleaning equipment, and disposing of scrap materials. Ensure that work areas are free from hazards to maintain safety standards.
- Assist machine operators, welders, and fabricators by supplying tools, parts, and materials. Help set up or adjust equipment when needed under supervision.
- Assist in basic assembly tasks such as bolting, screwing, or securing components together under supervision, ensuring that parts fit correctly and meet basic quality standards.
- Help cut, measure, and prepare materials for further processing or fabrication. Operate simple tools like saws, grinders, or cutters with proper training.
- Help monitor the quality of products, ensuring that parts are correctly fabricated and meet required specifications. Report any defects or issues to the supervisor.
- Help with maintaining accurate stock levels of materials, tools, and supplies. Assist with basic inventory management and ensure materials are correctly labeled and stored.
- Follow all company safety protocols, including wearing the required personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to safe handling of materials and equipment.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning machinery and ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
- Provide general support to other team members, including lifting heavy materials, cleaning equipment, and helping with other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Able to read and understand instructions.
- Able to communicate in English, verbal and written.
- Valid forklift / lift truck license.
- Experience working in a metal facility and using standard tools of the trade.
- Ability to work with a team and independently.
- Ability to lift up to 40lb.
- Ability to stand on feet during working shift hours.
