Term: Temporary, Full-time maternity leave, April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027

Salary Range: $52,000 - $56,160 annually

Position Overview

Reporting to the Houseless Prevention and Wellbeing Manager, the

Indigenous Community Supports Facilitator designs and delivers culturally relevant life-skills programming and coordinated supports for Indigenous individuals and families. The Facilitator provides culturally grounded, holistic responses that promote wellbeing, strengthen social connections, and support community integration for those experiencing or at risk of houselessness. This is a full-time temporary maternity leave contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver workshops focused on life skills, home management and employment readiness.
  • Ensure all programming is grounded in Indigenous worldviews, cultural teachings and community-based approaches.
  • Collaborate with the Food Security Programs Facilitator and Indigenous Outreach Worker to align initiatives and deliver programming.
  • Engage community partners and participate in outreach activities.
  • Develop and maintain a calendar of activities responsive to the needs of individuals and families.
  • Provide cultural support across all Niwasa’s programming/services.
  • Maintain administrative systems to track participation, program impact, and outcomes.
  • Contribute to reporting, evaluation, and continuous program improvement.
  • Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
  • Participate in staff meetings and team planning sessions.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Inform the Supervisor of required upkeep, repairs, or replacement of equipment to ensure safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designate.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Social Services, or Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Studies, Social Work, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience preparing and delivering cultural programming for diverse age groups.
  • Life Skills Facilitator and Healthy Relationship Facilitator certifications are assets.
  • Food Handler’s Certificate (required).
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Deep knowledge of Indigenous culture, values, and teachings.
  • Willingness to obtain additional training as required.
  • Current and clear Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Valid Class “G” driver’s license.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Up-to-date with all required medical vaccination
