Freedom from Addiction Inc. is seeking to increase the diversity of its roster of mental health professionals and the availability of services for Indigenous peoples of Canada (First Nations, Inuit and Metis). As such, we are seeking registered professionals with specific expertise in culturally competent care and understanding of issues faced by our Indigenous clients.
Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, the Counsellor will be responsible for resident care and treatment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop individual treatment plans with residents and complete required reports, documentation and assessments.
- Monitor resident progress, coordinate resident care and complete required documentation.
- Use a team based approach to decision making in accordance with the Freedom From Addiction Treatment Model.
- Participate in program development and evaluation, attend meetings and complete statistics.
- On a rotational basis, provide on-call services during evenings and weekends.
- Conduct educational presentations with residents as required.
- Respond to crisis and urgent situations.
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in an Indigenous health and or social service organization, hospital or community-based case management, health promotion, public health or social work is essential.
- Must demonstrate a good working knowledge of community resources in Ontario, particularly women & Indigenous-specific resources.
- Experience with working within First Nation preferred
- Indigenous cultural competency training (organizational curriculum of choice)
- Must be an excellent team player, punctual, reliable and mature.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Being a First Nations member is an asset
- Awareness of formal patient or service agreements with local Indigenous communities/organizations
- Excellent group facilitation, containment and crisis intervention skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to function well within a fast-paced environment.
- Valid G drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Current Police Vulnerable Screening Sector.
- Current First Aid/CPR Certificate.
Required Education:
- Diploma/Certificate in a relevant field of study
- Preferably a Member of the CACCF or equivalent with a governing body
Required Experience:
- At least 1-2 years of providing individual counselling/therapy.

Pay: $40,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
