Job Summary:
The Life Enrichment Worker (LEW) is responsible for working within an interdisciplinary team and enhancing the quality of life for older adults and seniors living within a LOFT Program who are facing complex challenges. These complex challenges could include mental health and/or addiction challenges, cognitive impairment, ongoing physical health issues, responsive behaviours and/or other neurological disorders. The LEW is responsible for the effective operation and delivery of all recreational programming, which includes assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating a variety of innovative recreational, educational, or therapeutic program activities that will support the achievement of optimal individualized care for the client, and further assists in building their interpersonal relationships and social skills. This position will include both individual and group work.
Assisted Living - Dunn is a 24/7 program that provides specialized assisted living supports to vulnerable older adults and seniors with complex physical health challenges, mental health challenges, addiction or cognitive impairment. Assisted Living - Dunn responds to resident’s needs, so that they can live safely and in good health in the community as they age. Through our care, we aim to postpone for as long as possible, or eliminate, any need for institutional care. The program serves 70 clients living at program sites, as well as an additional 28 clients through Hub and Spoke services in the wider community. The program supports clients living independently in the community with support and dignity. PSW, Case Manager and Life enrichment supports are provided to assist clients at home and in the community.
The program offers free 24/7 care through our specialized Personal Support Workers (PSW) team, providing services such as assistance with personal care, essential housekeeping, laundry services, medications supports, meal preparation and escorts to appointments. LOFT’s Case Managers offer one-on-one support and provide care coordination, crisis intervention, system navigation and client advocacy. They connect clients with the services they need to become healthier, happier and as independent as possible. Our team calls upon a variety of resources, including medical, financial, emotional and recreational supports. Mental, physical and spiritual health are improved by social interaction and the sense of belonging that comes from a welcoming and supportive community. Our Life Enrichment services offer residents opportunities to enjoy life, try new things and become involved in their local community. The goal is to ensure that clients have access to interesting and stimulating activities and social opportunities through regular in-house events and group outings in the community.
