Job Description: 

The 2025 Oshkabewis Peer Trainee position will help promote the Niiwin Wendaanimak program via outreach and social media . Their role will fluctuate between supporting Four Winds peers in the kitchen, supporting staff with programming, and assisting with program promotion. The seasonal schedule will help determine what areas of need are required for the individual and program to mutually benefit. 

  

Responsibilities:  

  • Administration & Welcoming/reception Support: 1 days a week (QW site)
  • Four Winds Drop-in group – Supporting Peers: 2 day a week (cross sites)
  • Street Outreach: 1 day a week (cross sites)
  • Garden Group (Spring/Summer) 1 day a week (QW)
  • Winter Drop-In Group (Fall/Winter) 1 day a week (QW site)

 

Qualifications:  

  • Experience of working in wellness programs (through paid employment or volunteer work) 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Excellent writing skills  
  • Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills are an asset 
  • Experience working with people who are marginalized including people who are homeless, people who use substances, people with mental health issues, and new immigrants
  • Knowledge of community resources, harm reduction and additional languages are assets 
  • Knowledge of food handling is an asset, First Aid & CPR, Mental Health First Aid

Salary: $23.07 an hour & plus transportation costs (TTC Presto cards) 

Hours: 35 hours a week for 50 weeks
