PRODUCTS MANAGER, DIGITAL MARKETING

We are the largest private supporter of high-performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including the participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Marketing & Data, the Products Manager, Digital Marketing is responsible for informing and applying Team Canada’s digital products ecosystem strategy, which delivers against organization objectives, including: driving fan engagement, growth of owned audiences and enabling value/revenue creation. As a Digital Marketing professional, the role serves as the project lead for Team Canada’s digital products ecosystem. This involves creating world-class digital experiences by managing the design, development, maintenance, and innovation of Team Canada’s website, mobile app, email, loyalty program, and any other owned digital properties. The role also supports the additional Digital Marketing focus areas of analytics, user data, and paid promotion.

LOCATION

This position will be located in one of the COC’s offices (Montreal, QC, at 500 René-Lévesque Boulevard West; or in Toronto, ON at 250 Yonge St. Suite 3000). We offer a hybrid work model that allows for up to two days of remote work each week.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES 

Digital Marketing and Fan Engagement

  • Champions the highest standard in digital marketing experiences across all of Team Canada’s owned external-facing properties
  • Supports the development and evolution Team Canada's digital ecosystem (web, app, email, profile, loyalty, etc.) as a vehicle to ignite lifelong fandom via data-driven funnels
  • Enhances brand equity via interactive experiences, personalized engagement and audience insights that drive organizational value
  • Ensures appropriate implementation of Team Canada’s app push notification strategy
  • Manages the development and execution of all digital contests and reward opportunities, whether owned or monetized
  • Leads the development and deployment of Team Canada’s email newsletter strategy, including lifecycle management, template optimization, and rigorous adherence to CASL compliance standards
  • Oversees the identification and implementation of innovation opportunities to enhance fan engagement across Team Canada’s digital products ecosystem

Digital Ecosystem and Innovation

     Strategy and Development

  • Contributes to the development and ongoing implementation of a Digital Marketing strategy that considers web, app, fan profile, loyalty and email objectives
  • Influences the strategic evolution of Olympic.ca/Olympique.ca, the Team Canada Olympic App, Team Canada’s net new Profile/Loyalty offering for LA 2028, any relevant e-newsletters and all of Team Canada’s digital products ecosystem
  • Manages end-to-end process for net new digital products, including business case, brief creation, vendor selection, implementation and quality assessment
  • Manages strategic relationships with internal and external partners to ideate, implement and optimize digital marketing initiatives

    Maintenance and Optimization

  • Acts as the project lead for all owned channels in the digital products ecosystem, managing the ongoing implementation, maintenance and optimization of features
  • Works with the Digital Data team to assess and optimize existing digital products, with a focus on quality control, brand consistency and user experience
  • Supervises the integration and ongoing performance of relevant tools or platforms that contribute to Team Canada’s digital marketing efforts
  • Supports the setup and maintenance of all relevant digital marketing analytics tool integrations used to measure Team Canada’s digital performance
  • Researches and implements relevant new digital technologies and processes, including: AI, SEO/AEO, AR/VR and others
  • Critically reviews relevant digital marketing data, trends and information to draw actionable conclusions based on the findings
  • Manages relationships with multiple digital marketing vendors on an ongoing basis, while also taking a leadership role in any renewals or negotiations

    Compliance

  • Informs the standards and implementation of data acquisition, privacy & consent procedures across Team Canada’s fan-facing digital products ecosystem
  • Ensures that all current and future elements of the digital products ecosystem meet industry standard and government-mandated accessibility requirements

Digital Partnerships and Promotions

  • Oversees the ideation, creation and delivery of digital marketing monetization opportunities, including: project outlines, journey mapping, project management, workback schedules, budgeting, implementation and quality assessment
  • Works with key internal and external stakeholders to accurately define user experience elements used to estimate partner value for digital marketing monetization activities
  • Supports the planning, execution, and optimization of display ad technology and related opportunities across Team Canada’s digital products ecosystem (web, app, email, etc.)
  • Informs the strategic implementation of Team Canada’s owned and monetized paid promotional efforts on Meta, TikTok and any other relevant platforms, while employing data-driven strategies aimed at improving conversion rates and reducing overall spend

Digital Marketing As-A-Service

  • Manages all stakeholder integration into digital products ecosystem, including training and knowledge transfer to key groups such as: Partnerships, Communications, Canadian Olympic Foundation, Education, Governance and Human Resources
  • Supports delivery of ‘digital marketing as a service’ offering to key internal stakeholders such as the Canadian Olympic Foundation and Sport Development team, among others
  • Provides expertise and consultation to inform other groups’ relevant digital strategies and key digital marketing integrations.

Team Management and Planning

  • Performs key financial planning tasks, including: ongoing monthly tracking, processing payments, and maintaining an approach for long-term budgeting
  • Ensures all relevant fan-facing email inboxes are managed appropriately and incoming messages are responded to or forwarded to relevant parties
  • Maintains project management standards via Asana, Slack or other tools to facilitate the delivery and communication related to Digital Marketing projects
  • Serves as project lead for all relevant Digital aspects of cross-functional projects involving the Brand & Digital Marketing team
  • Manages the development and engagement of assigned direct report(s) to meet personal, professional and corporate objectives
  • Oversees ongoing training and education of Brand & Digital Marketing team and other relevant COC colleagues to ensure optimal utilization of digital products ecosystem
  • Applies technical skills & know-how to serve as a COC subject matter expert across all digital marketing initiatives & their respective platforms, software and interfaces
  • Supports submissions of Team Canada’s digital properties for digital marketing industry award recognition
  • Other duties, as assigned


 

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant educational parallel in marketing/digital
  • 4-6 years’ progressive experience supporting consumer-facing web sites and mobile applications (digital agency or client-side digital marketing function)
  • Relevant experience working for a high-profile consumer facing brand and/or experience working with multiple large clients at a marketing/digital agency

Skills and Abilities

  • Genuine and proven passion for Digital Marketing experiences
  • Committed team player with a passion for contributing to a high-performing team culture 
  • Proven ability to balance ‘soft skills’ of leadership & strategy with ‘technical skills’ required for digital product development & management
  • Skilled financial acumen with a proven ability to manage budgets on an ongoing basis
  • Excellent communicator, written and verbal - able to understand, present, and explain complex ideas & projects
  • Significant technical experience and knowledge of platforms such as WordPress, Rover, Tradable Bits, MailChimp, and other digital product CMS platforms
  • First-hand experience managing or making updates in a mobile app CMS
  • Demonstrated interest and understanding of loyalty, gamification or reward programs
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills

COMPENSATION

The expected salary range for this role is $65,400 to $89,900 per year. The base pay within this range is based on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal pay equity, and market benchmarks.
