Program Coordinator – The Operational Heart of Indigenous Storytelling
As the Program Coordinator, you are the operational backbone of the ISO’s funding initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Funding Programs, you ensure our mission to empower Indigenous screen storytellers is translated into accessible and impactful opportunities. You are the “point of contact” for every application, providing the precision and care necessary to drive representation across the industry.
The Role at a Glance
- First point of Access: Manage the intake, eligibility, and completeness checks for all applications with high precision.
- Data Catalyst: Provide Program Managers with the critical data and support needed to evaluate funding fairly and efficiently.
- Cross-Functional Support: Work across the ISO Story Fund and Canada Media Fund (administered by ISO) to keep programs running smoothly.
- Liaison of Impact: Ensure administrative excellence so that Indigenous creators can focus on what they do best: telling their stories.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Compliance Analysis
- The First Look: Conduct rigorous eligibility and completeness checks for all ISO and CMF applications.
- Deep Dive Review: Perform detailed chain-of-title and cost analyses at both the application and final reporting stages to ensure compliance.
- Assessment Support: Assist the Program managers to synthesize data and prepare summaries in making transparent, evidence-based funding decisions.
Applicant Support & Coordination
- Primary Point of Contact: Guide producers and storytellers through the funding lifecycle, resolving discrepancies and ensuring a smooth application experience.
- Peer Evaluation & Contracting: Coordinate the logistics of the peer review process and manage the post-evaluation workflow, including the preparation of contracts and funding agreements.
- External Liaison: Proactively follow up with production teams to secure necessary documentation and meet program obligations.
Data Integrity & Systems Management
- System Mastery: Become an expert in Salesforce and Monday.com to track project timelines, manage tight deadlines, and ensure data is mirrored accurately across all platforms.
- Reporting: Gather and organize critical data for internal presentations and reporting, ensuring the ISO’s operational records are always “audit-ready.”
What you bring
- Experience: 3+ years in program coordination or administration, including at least 1 year within an Indigenous arts/cultural environment.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the film/TV sector and government funding (Federal and Provincial) is a major asset.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert-level Excel skills and experience with CRM databases (Salesforce, Telefilm’s Dialogue, etc.).
- Analytical Rigor: A sharp eye for detail when reviewing legal documents, contracts, and project budgets.
- Communication: Exceptional written/verbal skills; Bilingualism (English/French) or proficiency in an Indigenous language is a significant asset.
- Inclusive Qualifications: While post-secondary education is welcomed, the ISO intentionally recognizes and values expertise gained through lived experience, community-based work, cultural practice, and non-traditional professional pathways.
