Nishnawbe Homes Inc. is a growing Non Profit corporation that provides affordable housing in Toronto. We are committed to assisting the Aboriginal community with housing needs. The successful applicant must be registered with Miziwe Biik Employment and Training. Nishnawbe Homes Inc. is seeking a Full time Remote Custodian Trainee. This is a contract position ending Mar.31, 2026. Full time is 35 hours per week.

DUTIES:

• Cleaning all common areas of multiple designated buildings, interior and exterior
• Sweeping, washing floors, cutting grass, snow removal
• Cleaning laundry area including machines (ie lint traps)
• Assist with observing proper functioning of sump pumps/heating & cooling
• Assessing and reporting needed miscellaneous supplies;
• Collecting and disposing of garbage and recycled materials;
• Handling heavy loads when required;
• Light maintenance duties as required;
• Support the maintenance team with turnover of units
• Be courteous, polite and helpful to all staff, tenants and visitors;
• Other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be able to work in a team and independently;
• WHMIS and First Aid Certification;
• Must provide a weekly work summary to NHI management
• Must be able to work remotely accessing multiple buildings in the GTA
• Must be available on weekends
• Must be able to respect confidentiality.
