The Native Canadian Centre of Toronto (NCCT) is a non-profit, charitable organization located in the
heart of downtown Toronto. The NCCT offers a wide range of Indigenous programs and services based
on Indigenous cultural traditions and teachings.
Job Title: Children’s Indigenous EarlyON Language Program Manager
Employment Term: Full -Time, 40 hours per week Mon-Fri
Department: EarlyOn Program
Report To: Executive Director
Program Overview
The Indigenous EarlyON Mobile Program provides culturally grounded, inclusive early learning and
family support services for children aged 3 months to 6 years and their caregivers. Programming is
delivered across multiple community locations and reflects Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and
doing.
Job Summary
The Children’s Indigenous EarlyON Language Program Manager is a leadership and frontline role, with
approximately 40% direct program delivery and 60% management responsibilities. The position
supports Indigenous language revitalization by delivering culturally grounded EarlyON programming for
children ages 0–6 and their families, while providing leadership and coordination for language
instructors and program operations.
The Indigenous EarlyON Language curriculum includes Ojibway, Cree, Mohawk, Inuktitut, Michif,
Algonquin, Mi’kmaq, and other Indigenous languages based on instructor availability.
Key Responsibilities
Program Delivery (40%)
• Deliver mobile Indigenous language EarlyON programming at schools, libraries, and community
sites across the GTA
• Plan and implement safe, inclusive, age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities for children
0–6 and their families
• Infuse Indigenous language, culture, land-based learning, and community knowledge into lesson
plans
• Build strong relationships with families and encourage caregiver participation
• Maintain confidentiality and fulfill duty-to-report requirements
Program Management & Leadership (60%)
• Coordinate established Toronto District School Board–wide EarlyON Indigenous language
activities
• Lead outreach initiatives to expand and strengthen the EarlyON Indigenous Language Program
across the GTA and surrounding areas
• Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring, and coaching to EarlyON Language Instructors
• Support instructors in the development, planning, and implementation of language
programming and special events
• Address operational issues at program sites (schools, libraries, community centres, etc.)
• Serve as the primary liaison with GTA school boards, libraries, and community partners
• Organize, plan, and post Language Instructor schedules, including locations, time blocks, and
contacts
• Conduct team meetings to coordinate district-wide activities, share information, and address
operational needs
• Participate in EarlyON Supervisor meetings, Aboriginal Committees, conferences, and
professional learning opportunities
• Develop and update program policies and procedures in alignment with funder requirements
• Coordinate budgeting, administrative duties, and funder reporting in collaboration with the
Financial Director, Fund Development Officer and the Executive Director
• Monitor inventory and recommend purchases of equipment, instructional materials, and
supplies
• Prepare reports and documentation required for compliance with funder and regulatory
guidelines
• Lead marketing, promotion, and maintenance of the program’s social media presence
Qualifications
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
• Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education
• Minimum two years’ experience working with children 0–6 and families
• Must self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis)
• Fluency in an Indigenous language and cultural knowledge considered strong assets
• Experience supervising or mentoring staff an asset
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification
• Vulnerable Sector Check and required immunizations
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• Driver’s license an asset
Working Conditions
• Mobile position requiring travel across the GTA and surrounding areas
• Occasional evenings, weekends, and outdoor programming
• Flexible hours based on program needs
• Able to lift/carry minimum 10lbs.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute positively to the implementation of the NCCT’s vision and
mission, operate in a collaborative team setting and maintain high and professional productivity levels and
quality of service. This is a full-time position, salary to commensurate with qualifications and experience.
