About Us

The “Eshkiniigjik Naandwechigegamig - A Place for Healing Our Youth" – “Aabiish Gaa Binjibaaying – Where Did We Come From?” – ENAGB is an Indigenous Youth Agency that provides programming and services to support our youth in North America to become responsible, participating citizens while leading our Indigenous community.

It is with this vision we are honored to have the role in the planning, organizing, and implementing of programming for families with children between the ages 0-6 years.  As a youth agency we will incorporate language, culture, land, community, and nutrition programming, all infused with the traditional knowledge of our people.

Under the supervision of Director of Toronto, EarlyON Manager will perform the below duties: 

  • Supervise, guide, and assist staff in daily activities of all ENAGB EarlyON locations.
  • Infuse indigenous perspective into the early learning curriculum and lesson plans that promote education on language, culture, land, community, and nutrition.
  • Ensuring programming is suitable for children 0 – 6-year-old and their families.
  • Developing prenatal programming for families.
  • Creating a culturally safe, trauma-informed approach that is responsive to the diverse communities of our Indigenous children and families.
  • Setting up of the programming space.
  • Marketing and promotion of the programs.
  • Ability to build quality relationships within the community and with our families and children we serve.
  • Ability and experience supervising staff and mentoring/coaching staff members in skill development.
  • Provide a safe, caring, and positive environment.
  • Develop and deliver age-appropriate programs.
  • Read each individual child's files in his/her program and be knowledgeable about his/her medical and developmental histories.
  • Interact with families to encourage their involvement in activities.
  • Plan, prepare, and implement daily activities (indoor/outdoor) as they relate to the curriculum.
  • Work with a team to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere.
  • Work as part of the team in the program.
  • Ensure confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Create a program environment conducive to learning and appropriate to physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Maintain open, friendly, and cooperative relationships with each child's family.
  • Contribute to a community of life-long learning through attending professional learning opportunities.
  • Development of policies and procedures of the program alongside funder expectations.
  • Attendance of ENAGB Board & Youth Council meetings to provide updates and receive continued support for the program.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the ENAGB Youth Program.
  • Other related duties related to this position.

To ensure the successful delivery of the program, we require the following qualifications:

  • Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators will possess a diploma/degree or equivalent in Early Childhood Education.
  • Knowledge of child development, E.L.E.C.T, infant mental health, pre/postnatal education, supportive counselling. 
  • Over two years of experience working with children between 0-6 years and families.
  • Must self-identify as Indigenous (Inuit, Metis or First Nation).
  • Fluent in an indigenous language and knowledge of Indigenous cultures is a definite asset.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends.
  • Adequate energy and ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
  • A valid Standard First Aid and CPR.
  • A cleared Criminal Reference check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • A positive, fun-loving attitude.
  • The ability to work as a team and be self-motivated.
