About Us
The “Eshkiniigjik Naandwechigegamig - A Place for Healing Our Youth" – “Aabiish Gaa Binjibaaying – Where Did We Come From?” – ENAGB is an Indigenous Youth Agency that provides programming and services to support our youth in North America to become responsible, participating citizens while leading our Indigenous community.
It is with this vision we are honored to have the role in the planning, organizing, and implementing of programming for families with children between the ages 0-6 years. As a youth agency we will incorporate language, culture, land, community, and nutrition programming, all infused with the traditional knowledge of our people.
Under the supervision of EarlyON Manager, the EarlyON Program Coordinator Assistant will perform the below duties:
- Provide drop in programming at either the West or East end location in the evenings and possible weekends.
- Ensuring a culturally safe, trauma-informed approach that is responsive to the diverse
- communities of our Indigenous to parents/caregivers and their children from birth to six years of age.
- Supporting the setup of the drop in programming space.
- Prepare calendars, posters and promote the drop in programming as recommended by the ENAGB Youth Council.
- Ensure all parents/caregivers accessing ENAGB register to the program.
- Entry of notes into our data-based system.
- Engaging directly with parents/caregivers and their children from birth to six year of age and provide quality care.
- Interact with parents/caregivers to encourage their involvement in activities.
- Work with the team to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere.
- Ensure confidentiality of privileged information.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of the ENAGB EarlyONs Program.
- Other related duties as it relates to this position.
To ensure the successful delivery of the program, we require the following qualifications:
- Child & Youth Worker, ECE and/or relevant experience.
- Over two years of experience working with parents/caregivers and their children from birth to six years of age.
- Must have extensive knowledge of Indigenous (Inuit, Metis or First Nation) history/background.
- Fluent in an indigenous language and knowledge of Indigenous cultures is an asset.
- Able to work evenings and weekends.
- Adequate energy and ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
- A valid Standard First Aid and CPR.
- A cleared Criminal Reference check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- A positive, fun-loving attitude.
- The ability to work as a team and be self-motivated.
- Must be available to attend monthly staff retreats, training sessions and ongoing professional development activities.
