Overall Function:
The Sub-Assembler is responsible for assembling seating subcomponents such as arms, bases, backs, and mechanisms prior to final assembly. This position ensures all subassemblies meet specifications for quality, fit, and function to support smooth production flow.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform subassembly of chair components using standardized tools, jigs, and fixtures.
- Read and follow work orders, part drawings, and assembly instructions accurately.
- Inspect and test subassemblies to verify alignment, torque, and functionality.
- Identify and report non-conforming parts or quality issues to the lead hand or supervisor.
- Maintain proper labeling and organization of completed subassemblies for downstream assembly.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workstation.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in light manufacturing or mechanical assembly preferred.
- Good hand–eye coordination and familiarity with basic tools.
- Ability to follow standardized work procedures and production targets.
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs and performing repetitive tasks.
Physical Job Demand:
- Job requires full visual attention to tasks (100% of the time)
- Standing at a workstation (100% of the time)
- Job requires repetitive gripping and pushing/pulling utilizing a power tool drill to tighten screws to assemble mechanism to chair parts (75% of the time)
- Lifting/Carrying placing completed sub assembled components on carts for order picking area (25% of the time)
