T-Nut Operator

Overall Function:

The T-Nut Operator is responsible for installing T-nuts and other hardware components into chair seats, backs, or frames as part of the subassembly process. This role ensures accurate placement, secure fastening, and consistent quality to support smooth downstream assembly operations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate T-nut machines and related equipment to install threaded inserts into wooden or composite components.
• Read and follow work orders, production drawings, and setup instructions accurately.
• Load, align, and secure workpieces properly in fixtures or jigs before operating equipment.
• Inspect parts visually and with gauges to ensure proper T-nut placement, depth, and alignment.
• Perform minor adjustments and routine maintenance on the T-nut machine (e.g., clearing jams, changing dies).
• Report defective materials, equipment issues, or quality problems to the lead hand or supervisor.
• Follow all safety and quality standards, maintaining a clean and organized workstation.

Qualifications & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or woodworking environment preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Attention to detail with strong focus on accuracy and consistency.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.

Physical Job Demand:

This position requires a candidate to be able to perform these demands:

• Job requires full visual attention to tasks 100% of the time
• Standing at a workstation 100% of the time
• Job requires repetitive gripping and alignment of wooden chair frames for t-nuts to be installed (75% of the time)
• T-nut machine foot pedal must be applied constantly to enable installation of individual t-nuts (75% of the time)
• New t-nut loops must be collected and placed on the machine for usage (10% of the time)
• Completed frames with t-nuts are stacked on carts for removal (15% of the time)
