Nishnawbe Homes Inc. is a growing Non Profit corporation that provides affordable housing in Toronto. We are committed to assisting the Aboriginal community with housing needs. The successful applicant must be registered with Miziwe Biik Employment and Training. Nishnawbe Homes Inc. is seeking a full time Tenant Support Trainee. This is a contract position from Apr.1, 2026 to Mar.31, 2027. Full time is 35 hours per week, at $21 per hour.
Essential Functions Training on the following:
Is the first point of contact during evening shifts for tenants and their guests
Assist tenant with in house processes ie work orders, pest control requests, guests guidleines
Provide referrals from the Crisis Agencies sheets
Assist with any emergency contacts required (medical, emotional distress)
Be involved in the Tenant Application process;
Monitor the security cameras during after hours
Write up incident reports and provide management with critical details to follow up if needed
Collecting and receiving rent(s), assigning rent receipts and follow recording procedures
Be professional while assisting and directing staff and tenants in proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) responsibilities.
Follow NHI’s COVID Plan and protocols for all staff and tenants;
Be courteous, polite and helpful to all staff, tenants and visitors;
Work as a Team Player within all of Nishnawbe Homes administration;
Other duties as requested
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Must be able to work in a team setting;
Must be able to respect confidentiality
Education and/or Experience in Administration is an asset;
Have general knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
Knowledge of working with the Aboriginal community;
There are opportunities with this position to be cross-trained with other roles within the organization to develop skills to enhance the successful candidate’s experience.
