Custodian Trainee (Part-time)

Nishnawbe Homes Inc. is a growing Non Profit corporation that provides affordable housing in Toronto.  We are committed to assisting the Aboriginal community with housing needs. The successful applicant must be registered with Miziwe Biik Employment and Training. Nishnawbe Homes Inc. is seeking a part time Custodian Trainee.  This is a contract position from Apr.1, 2026 to Mar.31, 2027, with an average of 21 hours per week, at $20 per hour.

Essential Functions Training on the following:

• Cleaning all common areas of the 4 story building, including laundry rooms, stairwells and facilities
• Proper sanitizing all high tough areas and surfaces to fight the spread of Covid 19
• Collecting and disposing of garbage and recycling materials;
• Safely handle heavy loads as required;
• Perform minor maintenance tasks
• Cover the reception desk when needed 
• Work as a team member within all of Nishnawbe Homes administration;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

• Demonstrates sound judgment regarding confidential & sensitive matters;
• Must be able to organize and prioritize workload effectively;
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Knowledge of working with the Indigenous community;
• WHMIS/First Aid Certification an asset.
